Confronting Implicit Bias
In this training, we will explore our own biases, including why we develop bias, how it impacts the work that we do clinically, and practices we can take to increase awareness and decrease impact of bias.
This program provides mental health professionals with a comprehensive understanding of implicit bias, including how biases form, the different types that exist, and the ways they influence perception, judgment, and clinical practice. Participants will learn to define implicit bias, distinguish it from explicit bias, and explore how it impacts interventions across multiple levels of care. The training also introduces practical strategies to recognize personal biases and reduce their influence on professional interactions.
In addition to enhancing self-awareness, the program addresses the broader implications of bias in therapeutic and professional relationships. Cultural competency, ethical considerations, and inclusive practices are emphasized to ensure equitable and respectful engagement with all clients. Attendees will leave with actionable tools and insights to foster awareness, connection, and more effective, bias-conscious professional practice.
